Idaho Lottery TV Commercial, featuring Jerry Van Dyke, IdahoEducation: Brad Shaw received his formal motion picture production training at Brooks Institute of Photographic Arts and Sciences, in Santa Barbara, California. While a student, he was twice nominated for the “Best American Student Film Editor” award from the American Cinema Editors, winning it during his senior year. He twice received Hollywood Film Company’s “Golden Scissors Award” for student film editing, and two of Brad’s student film productions were recognized with twenty-four major awards at international film festivals and competitions.

Experience: Since then, Brad has written, produced, directed and edited a wide variety of programs for independent production companies, and has served as in-house Producer/Director for international corporations. In 1993 Brad became President of AppleTree Productions, Idaho’s oldest and largest comprehensive film and video production company, and served in that capacity until August, 1999, when he re-opened the company as Brad Shaw Productions, in new quarters with an all-new office, the latest state-of-the-art fully-digital non-linear editing system, and a new climate/humidity controlled component elements/stock footage library/equipment storage facility.

Brad Shaw Productions, Inc. (re-named August, 1999-) Boise, Idaho.   Formerly AppleTree Productions 1992- 1999 Producer/Director. (President since 4/93-) Creative development, production, direction, writing and editing, as well as occasional still photography, of principal commercial, promotional, informational, training and entertainment programs and printed materials created by this full-service film and video production company.

AIM International, Inc. Boise, Idaho Producer/Director. In charge of developing, producing and directing all film, video and A/V corporate communications.

Diet Center, Inc. Rexburg, Idaho Producer/Director; Marketing/Communications Manager: Wrote, produced and directed TV commercials, corporate film, video and live video/teleconference programs and events, promotional and training film and video programs. Creative director, and liaison with external advertising agencies, including J. Walter Thompson, Ogilvy/Mather Direct and Cole & Weber.

Image West, Ltd. Hollywood, California Producer/Director. At the time, this was the premier electronic animation and special effects production company in the world. Responsibilities included: Project management and creative direction. Marketing, client development and sales. Promotional materials and programs creation. Public relations, corporate representation, Industry trade show participation.

Brad Shaw Productions, Santa Barbara, California.  Executive Producer and Director. Created a wide variety of television and radio commercials; promotional, training and documentary programs; multi-media events; advertising and educational materials; live television entertainment and sports programming.

Bill Stokes Associates, Dallas, Texas.  Producer/Director. Immediately following completion of the Motion Picture Production course at Brooks Institute, Brad Shaw joined the staff of this Dallas, Texas film production company as a producer/director/editor of projects for numerous clients including the National Endowment for the Humanities, U.S Navy and U.S. Marine Corps.



Brad W. Shaw has been a featured speaker at advertising and film industry conferences and seminars, and a college-level teacher of film production techniques. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Greater Santa Barbara Advertising Federation during the year in which it was selected as the AAF’s “Advertising Club of the Year”.

Brad was a co-founder of the Santa Barbara Society of Film Makers and the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, in 1974, and served as the Festival’s Director in 1975. Proudly, the SBIFF continues as a major annual community event to this day.
